For Halloween every year I (try) to watch a horror movie every day under different themes. For Day 1 our theme was Funny Frights, so we watched Werewolves Within.
Based on a game of the same name, this ended up being something of a surprise treat, great performances across the cast with particular mention of lead actor Sam Richardson (I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson) and Harvey Guillen (What We Do in the Shadows) who's performances gave me more than a few good chuckles.
Written by humorist Mishra Wolff, the flim is like a mash-up of whodunit's like Clue, and monster mystery films like The Thing. Richardson plays Finn Wheeler, a forest ranger who is assigned to the backwater town of Beaverfield. After the power is knocked out across town by a freak blizzard they all take refuge in the local hotel. After a body is found and a dog is killed the mystery is on to figure out who among the eclectic cast of characters is the Werewolf, before it's too late.
All-in-all I would strongly recommend this film for anyone looking for something light, funny, and with a little gore.
